Dear Colleagues,

I’m Peter Sumner, former primary headteacher and CEO of HeadStart Primary.

We are based in Lancashire and provide resources for the UK National Curriculum across the world.

Since 2014, we have successfully developed Scaled Score (Standardised) Assessment Tests in Maths (Reasoning and Arithmetic), Reading Comprehension, Grammar & Punctuation and Spelling.

Our tests are now used in almost 3,000 schools and we supply several multi-academy trusts with assessment materials.

You can find full details of our assessment materials on our website:

You can also download free tests from each of our series below:
Maths Reasoning:
Grammar & Punctuation:
Reading Comprehension:

Accompanying the assessment materials are teaching resources which have been created by teachers using the objectives of the National Curriculum as the design blueprint.

Our range includes:
Mastering the Arithmetic Curriculum
Problem Solving, Reasoning & Investigating
Mastering the Maths Curriculum
Reasoning Assessments
Times Tables
Maths Basics

Children as Writers
Reading Comprehension
Grammar & Punctuations

Science: our new series launches May 2019

I believe that our assessment and teaching resources are among the best on the market. However, please don’t take my word for it.

You can request inspection copies of our full range of assessment and teaching materials.
Feel free to share them with staff, trial them with your children, and generally put them through their paces during the approval period of 28 days in your school.

There is no obligation to purchase & no cost to you if you choose to return your copies.
We deliver within 48 hours and pick them up from your school.

Request Inspection Copies on Free Approval Today:

If you decide that you don’t want to keep them, we will pick them up from your school completely free of charge. Even if you accidentally go over the end approval date, we won’t send an invoice.
I know how busy teachers are, and in my experience, gentle reminders work best. The approval service is catch and risk free.

If you decide to keep them, as most people do, we will then send the accompanying CD-ROMs and invoice.

If you require further information please contact us: E: T: 01200423405
