PGCE with anthropology degree?

Postby AndyRuck on Fri Sep 24, 2010 3:13 pm

Greetings all,
I've just got around to thinking that secondary school teaching would be a pretty decent career. I have a degree (and a Masters, for what that's worth) in Anthropology. I'm aware that one can't teach that in schools, so I assume I wouldn't be able to go straight to a PGCE with that degree? I'm pretty sure i'd be knowledgeable enough to teach geography or history (I even took credits in the latter at uni), but depends how hard they want to make it for me! Would I have to do an extra year (or more?) in one of those subjects before doing a PGCE, does anyone know?

Many thanks,

Andy
