Spotlight on Maritime Careers

We're hosting an interactive event for careers advisers to showcase the wide range of careers available to young people within the maritime industry. With a networking lunch, the Ju-SEA Juice Bar, an evening reception on board a ship, and the exclusive launch of our next ‘Careers at Sea’ campaign - this is an event not to miss!

Date: Tuesday 12th September 2017, from 1330
Venue: UK Chamber of Shipping, 30 Park Street, London, SE1 9EQ

This FREE event is a chance to:
• Learn about the extensive range of free resources available to schools, colleges, and youth groups which include visits from Careers at Sea Ambassadors and workshops delivered by the Sea Cadets
Mobile Engineering Pods.
• Speak to Maritime Industry professionals to understand the broad range of possibilities in this thriving sector.
• Discover how the industry links with STEM subjects and is encouraging more females into maritime careers
• Step aboard a ship, see how it works for real and talk to the seafarers on-board responsible for all vessel operations.
• Learn about where your food comes from by tucking into a delicious drink from our Ju-SEA juice bar
• Network with fellow careers professionals over lunch and a drinks reception.

1330-1430 Networking Lunch
1430-1615 Spotlight on skills drop in session - meet the industry experts
1600-1630 Transfer to THV Galatea - moored alongside HMS Belfast
1645-1700 Exclusive ‘Careers at Sea’ launch
1700-1800 Networking reception

Pop in for some or all of this half day programme and learn why the maritime industry is so important and how rewarding a career in this sector can be.
The ship you will be visiting is the THV Galatea (15 minute walk), which is one of a number of specialised vessels that provide a vital service for the safe navigation of ships all around the UK. Operated by Trinity House, your visit will highlight the high tech environment that seafarers work in and complete your experience in understanding our exciting world of maritime careers.
