Classroom management training?

Postby Parksy1 on Wed Jan 20, 2016 11:36 pm

Hi all,

I am considering applying to train to teach MFL at Secondary school level via Schools Direct and have just completed 2 weeks of school experience. Quite an emotional roller coaster with highs and lows but unfortunately my last classroom observation was of a class where the NQT was completely overwhelmed and the class ended in total chaos. It has made stop and question whether I would really be able to stand up in front of 30 kids and keep order. How good was the component of classroom management training in your year leading up to PGCE? How much do you think these skills can be learned and how much do you think is personality? If an NQT is struggling in their first year, can they get additional support and training? Thanks ! PS. I also saw some outstanding and inspirational teaching that made me want to throw myself into it 100%
Probably good to end with the other end of the spectrum.
